Mylen's landscape paintings created with oil, mixed media and wax can be so literal and at the same time be interpreted with metaphors that lie deep within its layers.  The inevitable fact of being a part of the natural landscape has, in explicit and implicit ways, connect her to her sense of self, personal story, artistic practice and work as a teaching artist.  Mylen's creative art process is a reflection on how she reads and relates with other humans as well as an act of embracing the grace of nature that provides her the opportunity to look beyond the surface and embrace the complexities of mind and heart.
